A Unique, Natural Art Form

The natural and aesthetic beauty of plants has an almost magical quality. Perhaps that is why we are so drawn to the outdoors, and compelled to bring the outdoors closer to home with house plants, flowers, and gardens. A simple house plant has been proven to reduce stress and muscle tension, lower blood pressure, boost healing, and create an overall ambiance of wellness and relaxation in the home. Not to mention, they provide fresh oxygen for the environment.
For all these reasons and more, Megan Carnahan has dove headfirst into a unique business model: Creative Green Walls.
“I have always enjoyed creating beautiful spaces from blank canvases. Interior design is something that I have been doing for many years. But it was actually during a trip to San Francisco where I saw my first living wall,” Megan said. “I was inspired. I did research and found a company in San Diego that trained me on how to create and install living walls with their system.”
Living walls, as described on Megan’s website, are: walls filled with living plants and flowers providing a fresh feel without taking up excess floor space. Using the GrowUp Greenwall system, Creative Green Walls can create a self-watering, well-contained living plant wall system.
“I feel privileged to be able to design, create, install, and maintain these living works of art. Each piece of art I create will always have a heart in it somewhere. This symbolizes giving back. The pieces naturally give back to the environment that it is in.” And just like her living walls, Megan gives back as well. “I donate a percentage of each project to support causes in our community.”
Creative Green Walls can build living or dried moss walls or art pieces using Reindeer Moss, Bun Moss, and Sheet Moss. Megan has also recently expanded her business to include preserved moss art pieces and faux plant art.
Her latest piece can be found at Heritage Hop Haus in Meridian, which will be her largest one to date! She’s excited to see the piece come together. “It has modern elements that I haven’t worked with before.”
